Coaching-led leadership development
Programme participants:
11 professionals in leadership positions
Future leader participants: 11 FL's
Training hours: 20 per person
The Circl Approach
The Circl approach has proven to create long-term behaviour change; working alongside a young person with completely different interests and experiences, engages professionals more than working alongside their peers.
It also helps them to increase their cultural awareness by gaining a deeper understanding of diverse perspectives.
16 professionals from Meta and Workplace from Meta completed bi-weekly training in coaching techniques including active listening, observation and goal-setting.
Each professional was paired with a Future Leader (a young adult from an underrepresented background) for weekly 1-2-1 coaching conversations.
The equal partnerships allowed both parties to practise skills, develop self-awareness and gain real-world experience of inclusive communication.
Yasmin, Global Partner Operations & Strategy Lead, and Future Leader Temi shared a particularly powerful connection:
“We had a really open and honest dialogue about what we were here to achieve and some of the challenges we were going through.”

“Having someone that walks the same learning path as you made a huge difference. Having a younger person opened my perspective and helped me face my challenges in more creative ways I didn’t think of before.”

Participants like Temi reported increased confidence and new tools for helping others:
“The way I used to help people wasn’t what they actually needed. I’ve learnt to step back, listen and give people space to process. That’s been one of the biggest takeaways.”
Temi, Future Leader

• Participants embraced the mutual learning model and the opportunity to make a direct, positive impact on inclusion in tech.
“The Circl programme has boosted my confidence—there’s no need to advise every time. You can coach and find solutions together.”
